Nine-Month Faculty Pay
The Internal Revenue Service announced 409 A Regulation enforcements in relation to nine month faculty paid over twelve months. This payment method falls under "deferred compensation" and may require specific actions and reporting by the faculty member and the University depending on their election of payment distribution. With any new IRS reporting, additional communication may be required as institutions develop the processes relating to the code. UAB's process might be slightly different than other institutions due to UAB offering two different options of disbursement to nine month faculty, i.e. 9 over 9 and 9 over 12.
